Play Therapy
Play therapy is based on the understanding that children do not communicate in the same way as adults. Through play, children express what they know, feel, and experience. Play therapy provides a safe and supportive environment for children to process their emotions and experiences with a trusted adult. This therapeutic approach helps promote self-esteem, responsibility, decision-making, independence, and emotional regulation. While play therapy is commonly used for children ages 5 to 10, it can be adapted for clients of all ages.
Children start play therapy for a number of reasons:
- Behavioral concerns
- Concerns related to sleep, eating, energy, and mood
