About Amanda Green

I was born and raised in Nevada and left Elko to attend college at the University of Nevada, Reno to study Psychology with a minor in Substance Abuse Treatment.  I graduated in 2011 with a bachelors degree and  continued to go on to get my masters degree in Counseling and Educational Psychology.

After graduating with my master’s degree I worked as a school counselor in Reno. So I understand the struggles related to the school system for both children and parents.

I then began  working on my internship hours for my license. During this, I was able to get more experience working with rural populations,  children and their families, couples, and with individuals of all ages.

I am currently working on becoming a Registered Play Therapist through the Association for Play Therapy. I enjoy working with children using child-centered play theory and therapy as my foundational technique. Play therapy allows a place for children to explore their own thoughts, feelings, and beliefs without being judged. It’s a safe place for them to almost anything and talk about almost anything.

Because this therapeutic approach is my foundation I utilize the skills with all ages that enter my office. It is important in therapy to feel safe, feel listened to, be attuned with, and have unconditional positive regard.
